Connoisseur Paving is a family run business covering Hull and East Yorkshire. Andy and Colin design it, build it, and are the same two men on your drive from the first day to the last.
We are one of the leading driveway and patio design and build experts covering Hull and East Yorkshire. That word design matters: most of our customers come to us with a rough idea, and leave with something better than they pictured.
Laid on a proper compacted base with haunched edge restraints, so the pattern stays true and the edges do not creep after the first winter.
Riven sandstone, smooth flags, circle features and contrasting borders. Falls set so the water runs away from the house, not towards it.
Paving and lawn treated as one garden rather than two jobs. Levels, edging and drainage worked out together before anything is laid.
Setts, cobbles, steps, walls, fencing and kerbs. The details around a drive are what make it look finished rather than merely laid.
It is nice to know that there are people who still take pride in their work.AudreyCustomer, in her own words
Every photograph on this page is our own work, at a real address, photographed on the day we finished. At the quotation stage we bring large clear photographs of past jobs, so you can see the block, the pattern and the colour before you commit to anything.

Connoisseur Paving is a family run business with over 25 years experience. Andrew Regan, known to everyone as Andy, works alongside Colin. There is no sales rep, no subcontracted crew that turns up on Monday having never spoken to you.
That is why our customers write in the way they do. They sign their reviews with both their names and their village, because by the end of the job they know us and we know them. Stuart and Ann in Hull. Neil and Paula in Swanland. Graham and Lorraine in Burton Pidsea. Craig and Sophie in Hessle.
Registered in England as Connoisseur Paving Ltd, company number 15901874, based at 24 1st Avenue, Hull HU6 9NB.
Almost every sunken, cracked, weed-split driveway in East Yorkshire failed for the same reason: somebody saved a day on the excavation. What is under the blocks matters more than the blocks.
The old surface and the soft ground beneath it are excavated to the depth the job needs and carted off site. Nothing is raked aside and buried under your new paving.
Sub-base stone laid and whacked down in layers rather than one deep dump of stone, because a single thick layer only ever compacts at the top.
Edge restraints and kerbs go in and are haunched in concrete before the field of paving is laid. Without them the outer courses spread and the pattern opens up.
Levels are set so surface water runs away from the house and into a drain, a channel or a permeable finish, decided at the quote rather than discovered at the end.
Blocks cut in cleanly at the edges, vibrated down, and kiln dried sand brushed and vibrated into every joint so the paving locks together as one surface.
The site is cleared and cleaned, and we walk the finished job round with you before we load the van. That last hour is the part people remember.
